San Damiano

Damian

Damiano was the one approaching us, telling us a joke, breaking the ice immediately. Then he revealed that, unlike the other homeless people, he didn’t sleep on the ground—he had made an ancient Roman tower next to the station his home. His personality is unpredictable, marked by a grotesque, childlike humor, and moments of brilliance. Even when life has led him to the streets, behind the bars of a cell, or inside a mental hospital in Poland, Damiano continues to write books, sing, and compose music and lyrics.

This page is dedicated to Damiano and Sofia, to help them build a better future. Part of the donations received will be allocated to them, while another part will be invested in finding a publisher for Damiano's books and songs. Reach out if you are a publisher or if you know someone who may be interested in publishing Damiano's books and songs. We are not only interested in the economic side of it but we are looking for people motivated to help Damiano grow his artistic projects.

Fleeing from a psychiatric hospital, Damian (35, Polish) heads to Rome in search of a new life. With little money in his pocket, he arrives at Termini Station. Instead of sleeping on the ground with the homeless, he climbs to the top of a tower on the ancient Roman walls overlooking the station, making it his new home. Dreaming of becoming a singer and longing for love, Damian surrenders to Sofia, a strong and charismatic homeless woman. Their love story ignites against the chaotic backdrop of Termini, catapulting Damian into the upside-down world of camaraderie and conflicts of the station's marginalized community. Here, Damian finds the family he never had. But with a fragile psyche, will he be able to forge a new life for himself in the whirlwind of Termini?
