HAWA is the main character of the film. She was forces into marriage when she was 13. At the age of 52, she decides she wants to start to learn to read and write after all. She opens her own textile business.
The fate of the women in is shared by many Afghan women all over the world. That is why we are taking the film to the diaspora. Together we watch the film, eat and talk. Women will come together in many different countries, uniting their communities, organisations and forces.
There we team them up with an organisation that offers online education to girls in Afghanistan. This way the diaspora women get the opportunity to take concrete action. And Afghan girls can stay in school.
And this is not all. Because we need to talk about women’s rights in Afghanistan more. And act more. This is why we also organise screenings for decision-makers.
