Nick Read & Ayse Toprak’s film tells the inspirational story of Kurdish teenager, Mutlu Kaya, from a remote community in Southeast Turkey. Aged 19, stardom beckoned when she reached the finals of Turkey’s Got Talent. Days later she was shot by a man trying to abduct her. The film tracks her remarkable journey to recover her voice as a singer, and to be heard as an advocate for womens rights…. a survivor’s story. ‘Mutlu’ means happy in Turkish.
