Hazira is a survivor of Srebrenica who lost her home, her first husband, and endured the trauma of landmines that severely injured her sister and later took her brother’s life. Now, 30 years later, she still lives in the Ježevac refugee camp, where each day brings new struggles. Despite the hardships, Hazira holds onto a glimmer of hope, though she remains disillusioned by unfulfilled political promises and the ongoing challenges of camp life.
Jakob Krese grew up between the former Yugoslavia and Germany. He studied cinematography and directing in Berlin, Sarajevo and Havana. With a family history shaped by contrasting political legacies he became deeply interested in the complex dynamics between the individual and the collective. He tries to explore these structural connections in his cinematic work, searching for past memories and future possibilities of resistance.
