Since we decided to make this film, although the production, the director and lead actor are Italian, we always thought it was a "Cuban" film: to be shot in Cuba, for Cuba, with Cuban professionals.

The first goal of the co-production between the Italian company Articolture and the Spanish Fractal was to find a Cuban producer as an active partner on this journey: the GatoRosaFilms joined us enthusiastically. We all spent time together on the Island, touching on the anachronism of History and the continuing resilience of its people. The Gimnasio, like Cuba, resists and carries on the dream of a different world, welcoming kids of all genders, backgrounds and ages for free, to convince them of their abilities and possibilities, not only sporting wise.

Through the Gimnasio, we tell the story of today's Cuba and we support an initiative launched by Samuel Fabbri, and cared for by the entire community. A community that is progressively emptying out, as is the Island, which in 2022 saw the exodus of more than 250,000 Cubans, one of the biggest in the Cuban history, afflicted by the current socio-economic situation.

The gym has no means, equipment, or money, except willpower. Any support for the gym, is a support for the entire community that revolves around it.
