Rosine Mbakam grew up in Yaoundé in a popular neighborhood that nourished her imagination as a filmmaker.I am a fiction and documentary film director and graduated from the Institut National Supérieur des Arts du Spectacle et des Techniques de Diffusion (INSAS) in Brussels in 2012. In my desire for independence, I founded Tândor Productions in 2014 with Geoffroy Cernaix. By producing my films, I seek to defend the singularity of my vision.
I made this film with members of my family. For my family, the cinema has often been a world apart with exceptional people. The experience of making a film gave them the confidence to tell their own story and to know that they could be seen and heard like everyone else.
The act of making cinema was an act of reclaiming a confidence lost and broken by colonization.
Pierrette and the other people in the film did a number of things with the money they received from the film. Pierrette has bought herself a plot of land and is building a new house in a neighborhood where she is protected from flooding.
Helping Pierrette and the other characters in the film, would strengthen their confidence in believing that their story counts, and above all enable Pierrette to finalize her house.
