The Kharkiv-based cheerleading team Nice Ladies was founded in 2016. They hold the Ukrainian Guiness Record as the Eldest Cheerleading Team of Ukraine, won several prizes in regional and national competitions and regularly take part in the European Championships. Currently, the team prepares for the one in Germany in summer 2024.
Nice Ladies is travelling! The documentary was recently invited for various film festivals around the world, such as DocuDays (Ukraine) where it won the Special Mention, Krakow Film Festival (Poland), Beldocs (Serbia), Verzio International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival (Hungary), Mykolaichuk OPEN (Ukraine), EU-Asia Documentary Festival (Hong Kong), Gimli Film Festival (Canada), Festival de cinéma de la ville de Québec (Canada), Filmfest Sundsvall (Sweden), One World Slovakia, and on the 22nd of September the film will be screened in the Forum of the Directors at the Netherlands Film Festival. We are very excited about reaching more audiences and share the story of the Nice Ladies!

The first reviews are in! In addition to overwhelming positive reactions and standing ovations at the festival screenings, the Dutch press has the opportunity to review the film this week ahead of its national theatrical release on June 13th. Both 'de Volkskrant' and 'NRC' newspapers rated Nice Ladies with 4 stars, and leading film magazine 'Filmkrant' commends Mariia Ponomarova's close and personal directing style and the resilience the film, and the Ladies, exude.

We are going to Toronto! Nice Ladies will have its international premiere at Hot Docs Festival, the biggest documentary festival of North America. The film will be screened in the Art of Resistance programme on May 1st and May 4th. See this link for more info!
